Considering the fact that 65 percent of EU acquis concerns and influences local administrations directly or indirectly, it is clear to see that local administrations have very important roles in the EU integration process. From this viewpoint, it can be said that improving administrative and executive capacities of local administrations in Turkey is one of the key elements contributing to the EU accession process. Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU Project aims at developing the capacities of local administrations and to further cooperation between cities on issues having a direct impact on urban life, such as EU policies on local administrations, priorities of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions and UN Sustainable Development Goals. We aim at developing sustainable cooperation between cities in Turkey and the EU through similar programs in the coming years.
